What the RTX 5070 is built for
1440p, and every machine on this page carries that badge. At that resolution the card handles current releases at high settings, and reaches 4K in many of them with upscaling enabled. It is the card most people end up on, because 1440p is where the jump in image quality over 1080p is obvious and the cost of driving it is still reasonable.
That does mean the screen matters. On a 1080p monitor a 5070 will produce frames the panel cannot show, and the money would have been better spent elsewhere. Our monitor guide covers how resolution and refresh rate interact with what a machine can actually drive.
The processor matters less here
Look down this page and the processors range from a Ryzen 5 through to X3D chips and Core Ultra 7, with the same graphics card throughout. The useful thing to know is how much of that difference you would notice.
At 1440p, not a great deal in most games. The higher the resolution, the more of the work falls to the graphics card, so the gap between a mid range processor and a top one narrows. The exceptions are competitive shooters at very high refresh rates, where frame rates climb high enough that the processor becomes the limit, and simulation, which runs large amounts of logic every frame and responds to processor strength more than almost any other genre.
So if you play racing or flight sims, or you chase frame rates in competitive titles, the stronger processors on this page earn their money. If you mainly play single player games at 1440p, they largely will not, and that budget does more as memory, storage or simply not spent.
Upscaling and power
DLSS renders the game below the resolution you play at and reconstructs it, which is a large part of why this card reaches 4K in titles it would otherwise struggle with. Our guide to DLSS and FSR explained covers how it works and where the image quality cost shows.
Power is worth a thought if you are building rather than buying, because current cards draw sharp transient spikes above their rated figure. Our guide on what power supply wattage you need covers the headroom these want.
When to step up
If you are moving to 4K, or want ray tracing at native resolution rather than leaning on upscaling, the next cards along are the 5070 Ti and 5080. Our comparison of the RTX 5070, 5070 Ti and 5080 sets out where each one stops earning its price, which is the right question at this level rather than which is fastest.
Every machine here is hand built and tested in the UK with a 3 year warranty as standard. If you would rather set the specification yourself, the PC configurator checks compatibility as you build.
RTX 5070 gaming PC FAQs
What can an RTX 5070 run?
1440p at high settings in current releases, and 4K in many of them with upscaling enabled. Every machine on this page is badged for 1440p, which is where the card is at its most convincing.
The processors vary a lot. Does it matter?
Less than you might think at this resolution. At 1440p the graphics card is doing most of the work, so the gap between a mid range processor and a top one narrows considerably in most games. Where it still shows is competitive shooters at very high refresh rates, and simulation, which leans on the processor more than almost any other genre.
Should I get a 5070 Ti or a 5080 instead?
Only if you are moving to 4K or want native resolution ray tracing rather than relying on upscaling. At 1440p the 5070 is the sensible stopping point. Our comparison of the RTX 5070, 5070 Ti and 5080 sets out where each one stops being worth the money.
Do I need a 1440p monitor to use one?
To see what you are paying for, yes. On a 1080p screen a 5070 will produce frames the monitor cannot show. Our monitor guide covers how resolution and refresh rate interact with what the machine can drive.
How long does delivery take?
Built to order systems take 6 to 8 working days, or 3 to 5 on express. Some machines in this range are in stock for next day delivery.
