CHOOSING YOUR IRACING PC
Choosing a PC for iRacing comes down to one core technical reality: iRacing is heavily bottlenecked by single-core CPU performance and depends on specific GPU technologies for multi-monitor or VR setups..
Some of the parts that you should prioritise when building your iRacing Gaming PC include:
iRacing processes physics and simulation logic primarily on a single main thread.
If your processor is below the minimum, you might experience lag, longer load times, or stuttering—especially during races with lots of cars or weather effects.
AMD 3D V-Cache (Top Pick): Chips like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Ryzen 7 9800X3D are the absolute gold standard for iRacing. Their massive L3 cache significantly reduces frame drops in packed grids (e.g., race starts with 40+ cars).
Intel Options: If opting for Intel, aim for higher single-core clock speeds (e.g., Core i5 14700K or Core Ultra 7 270K Plus).
Single 1080p / 1440p Monitor: NVIDIA RTX 50500 / 5060 or AMD RX 7600 / 9060 XT handles ultra settings easily.
Triple Monitors (1080p or 1440p): NVIDIA is strongly recommended. NVIDIA’s Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) technology renders triple screens far more efficiently than AMD cards. Look at an RTX 5070 or higher.
VR Headsets or 4K Triples: RTX 5070 Ti / 5080 / 5090. NVIDIA’s Single Pass Stereo (SPS) drastically boosts VR performance in iRacing.
RAM: 32GB DDR5 (6000 MHz CL30 is the sweet spot for AMD). 16GB is enough for bare minimums, but dense grids and custom car liveries routinely push past 16 GB.
At least a 1 TB NVMe SSD (2 TB recommended). Full iRacing content with high-res car textures takes over 100–225 GB, and fast load times prevent missing grid drop windows.
