If you like a large open world to disappear into, Ghost of Tsushima covers similar ground with a similar hardware bar. Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy sit at the more demanding end, and Elden Ring is the other long single-player game worth building for.
The selected pre-configured systems above are recommended for gameplay and any guarantee of actual performance is neither implied nor stated. Game not supplied. Fierce PC does not have any association with Call of Duty or Activision and all images are purely for representational purposes only.

CHOOSING YOUR CALL OF DUTY PC
Selecting a gaming PC for Call of Duty (including standard multiplayer modes or Warzone) requires targeting high, steady frame rates and fast load times. Modern CoD titles are notoriously demanding on storage, CPU single-thread speed, and GPU VRAM.
Some of the parts that you should prioritise when building your Call of Duty Gaming PC include:
In competitive 1080p or 1440p gaming, lower visual settings are often used to maximize FPS, shifting the workload heavily onto the CPU.
AMD Ryzen X3D Processors: CPUs with 3D V-Cache (e.g., Ryzen 7 7800X3D) perform exceptionally well in Call of Duty by keeping 1% low frame rates high during intense engagements and explosions.
Intel Core i7 / i9 / Core Ultra: High clock speeds ensure stable frame delivery when pushing past 144+ FPS.
Call of Duty relies heavily on high-resolution textures. When VRAM fills up, the engine aggressively swaps textures to system RAM, causing sudden frame drops and stuttering.
1080p Gaming: 8 GB VRAM is sufficient on low/medium textures.
1440p / High Settings: Target 12 GB to 16 GB of VRAM to handle dynamic texture streaming on large Warzone maps without stutter.
Upscaling Support: NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR are built into CoD and provide free frame rate boosts.
While 16GB is enough to run the game, 32 GB is heavily recommended for modern CoD titles. Background apps (Discord, web browsers, streaming software) combined with CoD's high memory usage can easily saturate 16GB.
However, if you want to future-proof your system or if you’re planning to run other memory-intensive applications alongside Call of Duty, going for 32GB of RAM could be beneficial. It’s also worth considering if you’re interested in content creation, like streaming or video editing, which can be RAM intensive.
Call of Duty install sizes frequently range from 150 GB to over 250 GB when combining base game files, Warzone, high-resolution texture packs, and updates.
NVMe SSD is non-negotiable: Running CoD on a traditional HDD leads to long load times, texture streaming stutter, and delayed match entry.
Aim for at least 1 TB to 2 TB: A 500 GB drive will fill up almost immediately once Windows and a couple of additional games are installed.
Warzone rewards frame rate over resolution, and a 150-player lobby is hard on the processor. If you are chasing a high refresh monitor, our guide to improving your frame rate is worth a read.
