READY OR NOT

Ready or Not is an intense, tactical, first-person shooter that depicts a modern-day world in which SWAT police units are called to defuse hostile and confronting situations.

The game takes place in a 'twisted facsimile' of the United States of America. One which is downtrodden, cruel, and corrupt. Missions are set in places that range from derelict buildings to high-end penthouse apartments.

REALISM FIRST

VOID Interactive has consulted with police teams globally in order to create rules of engagement and a scoring system that are both challenging and realistic.

ROBUST & NATURAL CONTROLS

Explore a deep and involved weapon handling and player maneuvering system, geared towards providing officers with an unprecedented level of control over their situational effectiveness.

PLANNING SYSTEM

Organize an approach and strategize through floor plans and mission briefs, then execute the mission in real time. Officers can decide to deploy with items such as ballistic shields, door rams, tactical ladders, and much more. Swat units can also choose to enlist personnel to assist with the situation, including sniper teams and negotiators.

ABOUT READY OR NOT

Ready or Not is a gritty, tactical first-person shooter developed by VOID Interactive, focused on realistic SWAT operations in high-risk scenarios. It officially launched out of early access in December 2023 and recently hit consoles.

Ready or Not emphasizes smart, tactical play that follows realistic Rules of Engagement (RoE) that dictate what level of force a player is allowed to employ and when. This means that, unlike a regular first person shooter, players cannot usually shoot suspects on sight, but have to make attempts at getting suspects to surrender. However, should a suspect pose an immediate danger to life players do not have to attempt arrest, and may employ lethal force to eliminate the threat.

To emphasize the importance of following the ROE, player performances are graded after each mission's conclusion, with penalties enforced depending on how severe and numerous infractions are.

If you’re into tactical shooters like SWAT 4 or Rainbow Six: Vegas, Ready or Not is a standout.

Core Gameplay

  • You play as a SWAT commander in the crime-ridden city of Los Sueños.

  • Missions include hostage rescues, bomb threats, active shooters, and more.

  • Emphasizes realistic rules of engagement—you can’t just shoot on sight.

  • Features ballistic physics, ricochets, armor dynamics, and mental health systems.

Modes & Features

  • Solo campaign with AI teammates or online co-op with friends.

  • Planning system: Use floor plans and briefings to strategize before missions.

  • Over 60 weapons and tools: Shields, breaching gear, sniper support, and more.

  • Despite controversy, it holds strong reviews on console storefronts and is praised for its tense, atmospheric co-op gameplay.

DLC & Updates

  • Two major expansions:

    • Home Invasion: Focused on post-hurricane chaos and residential missions.

    • Dark Waters: Coastal crisis scenarios like oil rigs and luxury yachts.

  • Regular updates add new missions, weapons, and cosmetics.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING YOUR READY OR NOT GAMING PC

Choosing the right PC for Ready or Not means building a rig that can handle intense tactical gameplay, realistic physics, and detailed environments without breaking a sweat. Here's what to keep in mind:

PROCESSOR

A capable processor is important for playing Ready or Not, especially if you want smooth performance during tense missions and realistic physics interactions.

If your processor is below these specs, you might experience lag, longer load times, or stuttering—especially in co-op missions with lots of action.

  • AI behavior: The game features complex enemy and teammate AI that relies heavily on CPU power.

  • Ballistic physics: Ricochets, armor penetration, and environmental reactions are all CPU-intensive.

  • Mission complexity: Larger maps and detailed scenarios (like hostage rescues or bomb threats) demand more processing.

GRAPHICS

A capable graphics card is essential for playing Ready or Not, especially if you want smooth visuals and consistent frame rates during intense tactical missions.

If your graphics card is below the minimum, you might experience lag, texture pop-ins, or reduced visual fidelity—especially in larger maps or high-action scenarios.

  • Realistic environments: The game features detailed lighting, shadows, and textures that demand GPU power.

  • Ballistic physics & effects: Ricochets, explosions, and breaching visuals are GPU-intensive.

  • Multiplayer & co-op: Rendering teammates, enemies, and dynamic environments in real time requires solid graphical performance.

RAM

Having enough RAM is important for playing Ready or Not, especially if you want smooth performance during tactical missions and realistic physics interactions.

If you’re running with just 8 GB, the game will work—but you might notice stuttering or longer load times, especially in larger maps or intense firefights. For smoother gameplay and future-proofing, 16 GB is the sweet spot, while 32 GB is ideal for ultra settings and multitasking.

  • AI & physics-heavy gameplay: The game simulates complex scenarios like hostage rescues and breaching, which rely on memory for smooth execution.

  • Detailed environments: High-resolution textures and lighting effects require more RAM to load efficiently.

  • Multiplayer & co-op: Syncing with teammates and rendering dynamic environments benefits from extra memory.

STORAGE

To play Ready or Not, you'll need a decent chunk of storage space—especially with its realistic environments and frequent updates.

An SSD isn’t strictly required to play Ready or Not, but it’s highly recommended if you want faster load times, smoother gameplay, and fewer stutters—especially during intense missions or co-op sessions.

  • The base install is around 50 GB, but updates, mods, and expansions like Home Invasion and Dark Waters can push it closer to 90 GB.

  • An SSD is strongly recommended for faster load times, smoother gameplay, and quicker patching.

  • SSD Faster loading screens: Get into missions and maps quicker.

  • SSD Better asset streaming: Reduces texture pop-ins and lag during high-action scenarios.
