The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood:

Uncover the schemes of the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon 800 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls IV in Gates of Oblivion, a new year-long adventure for The Elder Scrolls Online.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood

In the upcoming Blackwood Chapter, you can continue the saga that begins with the Flames of Ambition DLC and investigate a conspiracy where all paths lead to the Deadlands.

As part of the Gates of Oblivion year-long adventure, the Blackwood chapter is an important piece of the saga that continues throughout all of 2021. Of course, you don’t need to have completed any of the previous content to enjoy the standalone tale found within Blackwood, but the repercussions of this chapter will be felt throughout the rest of 2021’s releases.

Blackwood Release Date:

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood chapter is set to release on June 1st 2021 for PC / Mac and Stadia, and will release on June 8th 2021 for Xbox One and Playstation 4.

Discover Blackwood:

From walls of the Imperial city of Leyawiin, first featured in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, to the murky bogs of Shadowfen, explore the mysterious region of Blackwood and uncover the Daedric plot at its heart.

Blackwood is the great southern swamp that drains the lower Niben River out to Topal Bay. The swamp borders Khajiit Elsweyr on the west and Argonian Black Marsh on the east. The border between Blackwood and Black Marsh is nebulous, and is said to be easy to get lost in.[1]

Though hilly in the west and southeast, Blackwood is primarily a flat swamp. The region is particularly lush with violet-flowered bushes, white oak, and bald cypress tress. Visibility is often poor due to fog, mist, and heavy rains as well as foliage.[2] Due to their similar climate it is sometimes believed Blackwood is a natural part of Black Marsh, tainting the clean, idyllic woodlands of Cyrodii with the cancerous growths of deepest Argonia. For generations the noble Nibenese of Blackwood have fought back against these encroaching tendrils of darkness with fire and sword, uprooting and expunging the invasive species and driving them back to their forbidden fens.

Uncover a Daedric Plot:

The Longhouse Emperors have made a pact with the Prince of Destruction, and all of Tamriel is threatened by their ambition! Delve into the schemes of would-be tyrants in a new main storyline that's part of the larger Gates of Oblivion adventure.

Find New Allies:

Never adventure alone again. Choose a Companion to fight alongside you, keep you company, and tell new stories as you grow your friendships with all-new and unique characters ready to aid you in your quests.

In addition to the new zones and stories to explore and experience, Blackwood also introduces the Companions System, allowing you to team up with a unique NPC, equip them, discover their stories, and fight together. With these new allies, you’ll never have to adventure alone again!

Experience New Adventures:

Travel an ancient land beset by Daedric forces and discover all-new stories, quests, monsters, and challenges. Blackwood needs heroes to stand against Oblivion.

Bethesda says Blackwood contains more than 30 hours of new main storyline, loads of side quests, quality of life features and, for the first time ever in ESO, companions who will adventure through Tamriel alongside the player in a similar style to those in Bethesda's single-player The Elder Scrolls games.

A New Trial: Rockgrove:

Retake the village of Rockgrove from Daedric-worshipping Argonians in a new 12-player Trial. Battle through the town and put a stop to the invading tribe's rituals before they can call forth Mehrune Dagon's great army.

New World Events: Oblivion Portals:

Enter the Oblivion Portals, scattered throughout the region of Blackwood, fight your way to their heart, and shut down these mysterious Daedric constructs, lest they engulf all of Tamriel in flame.

New Rewards: Lost Relics of Blackwood:

Earn, unlock, and loot a huge selection of Oblivion-touched rewards found within Blackwood and beyond. Acquire six powerful new gear sets, a host of dark collectibles, Achievements, items, and more!
