RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth (mainline) instalment in the enormously popular Resident Evil series, a series known for defining the survival horror genre, with its memorable characters, immersive settings, panic-inducing mechanics and heart-stopping jump scares.
When the latest victim in a series of mysterious deaths is found in an abandoned hotel, FBI intelligence analyst Grace Ashcroft is assigned to the case. When word gets out that a police officer has gone missing at that same hotel, series veteran and fan favourite Leon S. Kennedy makes his welcome return.
As Grace and Leon's paths converge, they must face their pasts and uncover the truth behind the Raccoon City Incident that changed the world forever. But while the terrors of their memories echo in their minds, will they relive the nightmare...or finally offer up a requiem for the dead?
DISTINCT GAMEPLAY
Resident Evil Requiem follows the story of two protagonists, giving gamers two distinct gaming experience, from the more investigatory, horror based experience of Grace's story, to the all-out, death-defying action of Leon's story. Combat will feel distinct, with Grace focusing on analysis and intelligence, using whatever she can obtain and carry, as well as crafting items and devices to help her take down enemies, and Leon focusing more on action, fighting with an array of weapons or melee attacks and storing an arsenal of weapons and ammo in his attaché case, making the game feel very different based on who you're playing at the time.
A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE
A big selling point of Requiem is the ability to switch camera perspectives, letting you experience both Grace and Leon's stories from both first or third-person perspective. We're excited for terrifyingly immersive, horror play in Grace's story in first-person, and then none stop action as Leon in third-person perspective.
THIRD TRAILER:
RETURN TO RACOON CITY
Fans of the Resident Evil franchise will be particularly excited that Requiem marks a return to Racoon City, almost 30 years after the events of the first game. A huge hit of nostalgia, certainly, but the return is not purely symbolic, as it also marks a return and a re-focus on the 'horror' element of the survival horror genre, and based on the trailers that have been released so far, and the optional first person perspective, this feels like one for the horror fans.
Resident Evil Requiem is available for pre-order and releases on the 27th February.
