The new addition to the Assassin's Creed series allows you to live out your viking fantasies. You play as Eivor, a Viking raider, fearless warrior, looking to lead his clan from icy desolation in Norway, to England. The premise of this title is to write your own viking saga, blazing your way across England, making raids, using strategy, making alliances, to bring the ultimate victory.

This invasion of the English lands is set within the 9th century, the Dark Ages. During this time Vikings sailed across the seas to conquer and raid the English coasts, as well as some major English Kingdoms.

In Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, as a player, you’ll visit four of these major English kingdoms during that time period: Mercia, East Anglia, Northumbria and Wessex.

Nearly every decision you make in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla will affect further gameplay. Throughout the game you can choose to use brute force, or adopt a silver tongue when attempting to find a home for your people, and shift the balance of power in England.

According to ubisoft, every alliance you make, dialogue choice you choose, and combat strategy you employ, will ultimately change your journey.

In this Assassin’s Creed game, it wouldn’t be a spectacular viking story without raids. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla let’s you lead surprise raids and pillage enemy territories.

Unlike previous games, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla brings forth a visceral new combat system, allowing you to decapitate, bludgeon and dismember your enemies, making raids brutal and more action packed than any game before it.

Included in this new combat system appears to be the ability to dual wield swords, axes and shields, which sounds pretty damn exciting.

Is Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla multiplayer?

In the simplest of terms, no, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is not multiplayer, and there appears to be no intention of adding multiplayer functions in future - Ubisoft has confirmed that Valhalla is “a single player game”.

HOWEVER, you are able to make a Viking mercenary to help your friends raid - considering the previous games within the franchise, this is the closest any Assassin’s Creed title has ever come to multiplayer in more than half a decade.

That being said, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will not have an online co-op, either. The online feature that could be a lot of fun - you can share your custom raider, and friends can choose to recruit mercenary Vikings. There has also been talk about “reaping the rewards” of your raider being successful alongside your friends in battle (in their own game worlds), so it seems possible that you will receive loot and other in-game items.
