Why Buy a Barebones Gaming PC?

Why would any gamer invest in an incomplete gaming PC? It might sound irrational at first, but buying a barebones PC for most gamers makes a lot of sense. Here’s why.

Cost

Barebones PCs only feature the essentials, which include motherboards, power supply unit, and the case. This means the cost of this type of PC is only a fraction of what you would pay for a fully-fledged gaming setup.

Not all barebones PCs come with this set of components. The components and parts available depending on the manufacturer.

Space

If you're short on space, barebones PCs are an excellent option. They are a small form factor. They don't take up much space, and the performance is decent. You can start working on your dream game setup without having to give up too much room.

You only pay for what you need

There's no point in paying for expensive processors and graphics cards that you will end up replacing as soon as the PC arrives. With a barebones gaming PC, you only get the most vital parts. You can then build the PC up using the parts you want. This saves you money, which allows you to get better-suited parts for the new set up.

What to Consider When Buying a PC?

For every gamer, before buying a barebones PC, you have all the parts you want to add to the PC, all figured out. This makes it much easier for you to pick a PC that supports your dream and makes it easier to achieve. But, no matter how prepared you are, some key factors can slip through your fingers.

Here are some of the things you should consider when buying a barebones PC from Fierce PC for the best experience.

Form factor

Form factor is a critical aspect to consider when buying a barebones PC. Small factor forms save on space but cut back on expansion potential by reducing the number of expansion slots.

The type of motherboard you choose will determine which form factor works best. There are larger ATX motherboards, and there are micro ATX slots that are smaller. ATX motherboards are more popular because they feature more expansion slots.

Processor socket

There are LGA, PGA and BGA processor sockets. The type you choose depends on the brand of processor you intend to use. Intel uses LGA, AMD uses PGA. BGA sockets are not common because the processors are permanently bonded to the motherboard making upgrading an uphill task.

The type of processor socket will determine the brand of processor you can buy. If you have a preference for processors from a specific brand, it’s imperative that you select a barebones PC that will support your preferred brand.

RAM

The PC you buy will come with a Motherboard and the motherboard will determine the amount and type of RAM you can have. RAM is a critical part of gaming and you need to have as much flexibility as possible to allow you to keep up with the demands of gaming.

Opt for a motherboard that holds upwards of 16GB with four or more RAM slots. You don't have to use up all the RAM capacity. You can start with 2GB and increase as the need arises.

PCI Slots

With a PCI slot, you can connect expansion cards to the motherboard. However, the slots are not featured on all PCs. For gamers, you need to have one full-speed PCI Express x16 slot. In some instances, you may need multiple slots.

No matter what your demands for a barebones PC are, at Fierce PC, you will find something that matches your needs and one that will be instrumental in helping you build your dream gaming beast.
